Hi All,

Our engineers have just detected a hardware fault on certain Tooki units. As of Monday, Jan 21 2008 the problem is rectified.
However, since the problem does not affect every unit, we have an unknown number of units in the field which require a replacement.

The problem root it a change in one of the Crystal oscillators. As we order thousands of parts each month, we have changed a supplier for one of the crystals. While the new parts LOOKED the same, a small change to the load parameters went un-noticed. As a result, the controller would sometimes fail to start. Tooki is then completely invisible on the MOST ring, although it will still broadcast it's bluetooth ID.

We have learned our lesson and have implement a procedure to avoid such mistakes in the future.

Now, however, we are facing the task of identifying and replacing defective units.

NAV-TV will replace all such units free of charge, but we need your help:

TO DETERMINE IF YOUR UNIT IS AFFECTED:

Your radio IS coded for a phone but the radio occasionally states on power up: "SYSTEM ERROR, PHONE NOT AVAILABLE"
OR
Your radio IS NOT coded for a phone and the radio occasionally states "NO PHONE" when pressing the TEL button.

Please note that this issue is not related to any updates or pairing issues.

IF YOUR UNIT IS AFFECTED:
1. Post your Tooki's S/N here. it should be on your invoice and on the sticker on the Tooki.
2. Post your SW date (Press MAIN+TRIP and enter PHONE)
3. Post your dealer's name and contact info.
4. Wait for a PM from one of our employees. if you do not receive a PM within 48 hours, Please call 561-955-9770.

Please Post feedback here regarding this issue, We strongly need your feedback to better serve you in the future..

3. Dealer Information - purchased directly from you but installed by
Custom car Stereo, Houston, TX (713-981-8455)

Is there anyway to tell by serial number or date code if the unit is affected before installing?  The unit label says:

Tooki U:2 01/17/2008:1
S/N:5325 P:02/05/2008:1

I just received my from Eric at Bumperplugs and he suggested I ask here.

Thanks,
Adam

Man, this sucks....the replacement (iPod) unit I received and had swapped out at my Porsche dealership (had to remove the passenger seat, etc, at huge cost to me) is ALSO bad.  I now get BOTH the Tooki *AND* the iPod interface coming up as "NOT AVAILABLE".

This REALLY sucks.

Please help.  How (please be specific) can I explain to Suncoast Motors that their ENTIRE STOCK of older units needs to be sent back to you guys? Can one of you PLEASE contact them and explain to them they are shipping defective product???

HELP! I now need to somehow get a NEW Tooki *AND* a new iPod interface and pay (yet again) to have them replaced at my dealership.  This is really disappointing, guys.

I thought I would post a followup now that I have had both units (Tooki + iPod OPI-P for Porsche PCM) finally replaced and installed:  things are generally working fine now in both cases, I am happy to report.  I had to update the Tooki SW again, since the unit I received had January's SW on it, but I haven't had any issues since.

It's been a costly venture for me, having to shoulder the multiple re-installs myself with the Porsche dealer, but thankfully  all is now well.

Error on screen - doesn't recognize cd changer navigating ipod with on screen menu in car appears not to work most of the time

Hello Luke,

I'm sorry that you're experiencing difficulties with our modules.  I would like to try to help you as best I can.

I'm fairly certain that the problem you're having with your Tooki is not hardware related.  A new Tooki update will be available in the next few days, and should solve the issues you're experiencing with your telephone.

One further questions is, are you certain that your factory phone module was properly disconnected when the Tooki was installed?  The continued presence of the factory phone module will affect the stability of your entire AV system.

As for your iPod unit, it may be defective, or the issue may lie in your iPod itself.  What model iPod are you using, and do you have an opportunity to try an older iPod to verify operation?  I also noticed that you didn't list an ACTUAL value for the iPod/Changer; is this because the value is blank or did you neglect to mention it?

Your resonses to these questions will be greatly appreciated and will assist us in solving your problems.

Thank you,

Tony Yankovsky

Roy,

Your iPod interface is dated november 2007, when we had one unit for both Audi A8 and Porsche (dip switch configurable).

Since then, we have released a new USB updatable interface and updated the software for some bug fixes.

Furthermore, we are about to release a yet newer version that (finally) includes the Apple Authentication chip for faster communications with the iPod, ETA 30-45 days.

Please follow the announcements (I'll send a mass email to our Forum users) - We will be offering an updated unit to our customers.

in your case, you may be eligible for an update for a nominal fee that covers expenses. Stay Tuned !

Thanks Moni, I will stay tuned.  What about the TOOKI unit?  Is my current installed unit part of the suspect hardware?
