Dear NAV-TV Tooki users,

After receiving some complaints from customers in colder environments, we discovered that sometimes our modules would fail to startup properly when they are below a certain temperature (approximately 39?.)  This would usually occur the first time the module is turned on in the morning and the module would usually operate properly the rest of the day.  In some climates, this would occur more frequently than in others.  A new update is available for your Nav-TV interfaces that addresses this situation and it is not necessary to replace the module itself when this happens.

Please follow the link to the software update page of our website here: http://navtv.com/software_updates.php and download the Tooki update, or download it directly from here: http://www.navtv.com/SW/Software_Updates/Tooki Updater 10-24-08.zip.  (We would also recommend bookmarking this page for future reference.)

Within the ZIP file, You'll find version release notes, changes and open issues.

If anyone has been experiencing any issues with their modules not starting properly in the morning or after a cold night, this patch will correct it.

Please report back on your experiences with this new update.  We would also like to hear from anyone who has had any sort of difficulty in performing this update or who had any difficulty or confusion with the Update Guide.

Thank you for your support and continued patronage.

Regards,

Tony Yankovsky,

Thank you Tony for the quick feedback. I don't mind controlling my calls from the phone itself. Another issues occured this morning though.
When I first intalled it last night, it was working great just like a swiss watch. This morning, after a very cold night outside the garage (29F), it's still pairing fine but it's not always detecting the calls (incoming and outgoing) even though the pairing is always active.
Could it be the cold weather ? Would this situation be resolved if I install your new "weather proof" software?
Or is it the fact that my car is not "telephone ready", Tooki will always decide when to or not to work.
Please advise.
Thanks

Hello again Fadelm,

This is likely due to the cold weather.  You can still update your Tooki without any interaction from the PCM, however, if your Tooki has 5 devices paired to it, then you have no method to erase one to create a "slot" for your PC.  If you experience difficulty with the update, please PM me your contact information and I will try to help you directly.

Thank you,

Tony

Tried to update my Tooki unit using the Tooki update tool. I cannot get the new software (Oct 24)loaded. I can connect my laptop to the Tooki module and it is displayed on the PCM tel menu. Reason I want the latest software is that my IPhone works great with one exception. When I'm called there is no ringtone, de radio will mute and I see the tel display with the caller ID but no ringtone to attract my attention. I tried to update the Parrot module in the TOOKI with the CK5050 RLS 161 software. Same negative result. Tried both ways, to connect the LapTop fist to Tooki before running the Update Software programs and also by not connecting and see if the update tool was able to make the connection. Negative result in both methods. Car is a Porsche 911 from 2007 with a PCM2.1,

Hoping for an answer. Alex van der Flier  Huh

Hello Alex,

If neither update is working for you, the most likely culprit is the Bluetooth in your computer.  What is the manufacturer of your computer and of your Bluetooth, and is your Bluetooth internal or external?

Thank you,

I have an IBM laptop with an external bluetooth device (Toshiba). I deleted the orinal drivers and installed the standard windows drivers for the device. Now I'm able to upload new software inthe Parrot 3200LS module in my wife's car and I was also able to upload the latest software (oct 24 08)for the Tooki Module. I was still naot able to update the "parrot" module in the Tooki woth the 1.61 software.

Tony,

It seems that the update of the parrot module went well now. I overlooked at step 5 of the update manual the last * of the number to call 2*220022*. The Tooki identification also went from Tooki 064C to Tooki #00005415 on my IPhone when I did the pairing with the Tooki module. Thanks for the support.

Tony,

One remark the ringtone still doesnot work. So when somebody calls me I can only notice that the radio mutes to track my attention. Any idea what can cause this problem with my I phone? My Wife's Motoroala RAZR has no problem and gives a clear ringtone through Tooki.

Lex,

I'm glad you were able to get the update to work for you.

Check the settings of your phone.  There may be a separate ringer profile for handsfree connections?

Thanks,

Tony

Tony,
There is no seperate ringtone profile for Hands Free on the Iphone. I have no clue what the problem could be. Any other one experienced this same problem of having no ringtone by incoming calls through the Tooki module?

Lex,

Are you using a custom/downloaded/home-made ringtone?  If so, try changing to a standard ringtone and see what happens.

Thanks,

Tony,

No, I use just the standard ringtone available in the IPhone. I checked the IPhone with a Parrot 3200LS installed in my wife's car. Here the IPhone works as advertised giving a ringtone through the Parrot system. So I concluded it's not a preblem with my Iphone. I re-installed the latest software for the Tooki (10/24) and Parrot (1,61) module today and that solved the ringtone problem. It's working great now.  Smiley

Lex,

It's certainly good to hear that your ringtone is now working properly.  But I'm a bit confused...  I was under the impression that you had already performed both updates.

Perhaps one of the two updates wasn't complete...  Do you think it's possible that you selected a different software version when you updated it the first time?

Thanks,

Tony
