Greetings from the newbie.

I've just acquired a '08 Ram MegaCab and would like to add rear camera.  I see on the product site a interface module is available, but there is not much information available.  Rather than posting a lot of questions here, where can I find more information?  I also have a factory rear DVD if this matters.  A FLIR may be in my future depending on price.

I'm curious in the differences between the MyGig and my REC.  I have limited time with my REC and opinions so far are that I wish I could interface a BT pointing device as the "joystick" on the unit is a reach.  The nav data seems a bit outdated, I'm not sure where to check for an updated CD.  There does not appear to be traffic updates. I basically get better navigation on my UMPC or phone.   I know I strayed a bit off topic, but if someone could point to a good site where the differences are I would appreciate it.  I think changing from a REC to the latest MyGig is out of the question financially.

TIA

Tia,

I would guess the only differences I can think of from the rec to the mygig
is that the rec is just a plain old navigation radio. Whereas the mygig has
a built in hard drive for nav and pictures. It also has bluetooth, camera and iPod capabilites
if you get the rer version of the mygig. When mygig came out a few years ago, they
were more than 2k. You can find a rer version on ebay for about $1300 now.
We have the rec/av kit for the rec radio. That will give you (1) audio (1) video
and (1) backup cam input. You will need to check the back of the radio for the 3 pin plug
to see if the rec av kit is compatible. If you go with the mygig, you can use our
allgig usb to activate video and nav entry while in motion as well as
activation of the back up cam input. You would also need our av cable which
gives you the ability to add rear, front cam as well as audio/video inputs and a video output
to add rear monitors or dvd. I am on a bunch of forums to explain these products.
Take a look at our section here for some info:

Thanks for the info.

BTW:  TIA=Thanks in advance

Does the module for the REC get rid of the nag screen when turning on the REC?

Does it remove the in motion limitations?

Does the reverse camera come on automatically when the truck is shifted into reverse?

Is the users manual available for download?

I haven't seen that yet by myself but i can assume that it must be something meeting the required standards.
